The HISTORY

2008 – Timberline Begins

Timberline Contracting was founded in 2008 by Shaun Chisnall, a qualified diesel mechanic with strong experience in heavy machinery and land-based work. The business was created to provide reliable tree work and vegetation services across South Auckland and the wider Franklin region. From the start, Timberline focused on mechanical tree removal, shelterbelt management, chipping and large-scale land clearing. A practical, hands-on approach quickly earned the company a solid local reputation.

2015 – Growth into Landscape Supplies

In 2015, Timberline expanded beyond contracting with the launch of its Landscape Supplies division. Jane Chisnall played a key role in setting up and running the supply yard. What began with mulch and firewood soon grew into a wide range of landscaping products, including soils, aggregates and decorative stones. This move allowed Timberline to better support local contractors, landscapers and DIY customers, while strengthening long-term customer relationships.

2025 – New Ownership

A new chapter began in December 2025, when Aaron purchased Timberline Contracting & Landscape Supplies. The change in ownership brought fresh leadership while retaining the business’s strong foundations and local focus. With Aaron’s background in contracting and vegetation services, Timberline is well placed for continued growth and development.

The LANDSCAPE YARD

Renee - 

has worked at Timberline for 7 years and is the manager of our landscape and contracting operations. We suspect she has a body-double because she does two persons’ worth of work in one. While she manages the office effortlessly, she is no stranger to getting on the loader and handling things outside!

Rhys - 

has been at Timberline for 3 years, working Saturdays and more recently employed full-time. He is our hardest-working regular Saturday worker and keeps the yard running smoothly. If you have any type of question, Rhys gives you an answer with a smile!

Hannah - 

has been our part-timer for over four years.  If she’s not at work, she is studying her life away at university. She loves a Sunny Saturday when the dream team is rostered on.

Darci - 

is our newest addition! She has recently joined the Saturday team and is most efficient at bagging our products. In her downtime Darci enjoys taking a swim at the beach, which is just as well because she works up a storm while she’s on the clock!

Richie - 

has been with us for 2 years. He is our skilled full-time truck driver and many of our customers love to chat with him while he delivers their product. He’s a classic Kiwi bloke, loves a fish, hunt, and a beer. 

The TREE TEAM

Brendon - 

is our main contracting digger operator and site foreman and has been at the company 8 years. He is extremely skilled at his job and leaves our customers places spick and span – you wouldn’t even know he had been there (minus the missing trees!).

Mike - 

is our mechanic who keeps the machinery maintained. He wins the award for being our longest employed staff member, with 15 years under his belt at Timberline. Mike is well acquainted with the chainsaw and likes to drive our Kenworth (and of course he services them both!).

Reid - 

is one of our youngest members of staff, but he makes up for it in personality! He has been at Timberline for a year, and just so happens to do tree work alongside his dad, Brendon. His happy place is on the chainsaw and he’s not afraid to get stuck in.

Adam - 

has been with us for 7 years. He should’ve been named Jack, because he is the jack of all trades. In his spare time, he loves creating impressive origami and woodworking. If you see any cool creations in our office or yard, we guarantee he made it! You’ll find him on the chainsaw, in the truck, and occasionally helping out at the landscaping yard.
